Blossom Drama School Courses
Blossom Drama School carefully plans themed units of work that build Performing Arts skills in a sequential fashion. Each term classes work on different themes and outcomes.
INFANTS: Parents are invited to the last 5 minutes of each lesson and the children will perform a highlight from the lesson. Parents who are unable to attend are invited to a 30 minute showcase in the last lesson of term.
PRIMARY AND SENIOR: Students will present a showcase for family and friends in the last week of term.
END OF YEAR PRODUCTION: Students will have the exciting opportunity to perform in the annual show set for November.
Drama Programs
| Term1: | Develop mime, improvisation, and acting skills. In term 1 the drama theme is Mem Fox for infants. Picture books will also be used as springboards and will be selected depending on the interests of each group. Primary will learning how movement conveys meaning and devising a piece to music. |
| Term 2: | Students will develop and extend their ability to perform, improvise and explore basic essential acting and improvisational skills. Students will also explore voice and its relationship to characterisation, work on sophisticated vocal technique and discover power in the voice to captivate the audience. Character and physicality will be incorporated to bring storytelling to life. Primary and senior students will work on diologues. |
| Term 3: | Students will combine voice, movement and characterization skills to rehearse and perform scenes from scripts. Students will have fun with the process of taking it from page to stage. |
| Term 4: | Students will rehearse for their stage performance which is scheduled for late November. (Ravenswood and PLC will perform in house shows.) |
Senior students who are considering taking Drama as an elective find this a sensational opportunity to trial Drama. Students who are studying Drama find that the lessons are a fantastic way to consolidate skills learnt at school.
Senior Drama / Stagecraft is an activity that seeks to foster the student’s interest in the dramatic arts through the production process. Lessons are about participation rather than competition and provide an opportunity for students to be creative and imaginative in a non-threatening environment.
Different aspects of Drama will be explored - scriptwriting, commedia or acting for camera. Students will explore performance styles, develop improvisation, acting and devising techniques. Voice, movement characterisation skills will also be developed and scenes and scripts will be created and performed.
